Retro: KAAY, October 1962

This began a very serious involvement of KAAY in our nation's history.  Because the FCC overlooked the fact that KTHS was bought by KAAY, and that KTHS no longer showed on the rolls for broadcasting, the FCC "forgot" about the whopping signal emanating from Little Rock and how it blanketed the area of the Caribbean, including Cuba.

Because of this, several of The Greats have related to me that Jim Hankins/"Mike McCormick" almost lost his job in getting KAAY involved in this most important service.  At Midnight every night, government agents would come in, lock the studio and broadcast Voice Of America propaganda to Cuba.  I am PROUD that Mr. Hankins had the guts to go through with this.
