"Blues Alley" on KAAY

A regular reader and contributor to the blog, pauls66, posed a question:

"In regards to KAAY, I have one question for the blog.  Is there anyone who remembers a short-lived overnight show called "Blues Alley"?  The show ran sometime around 1981.  I also wonder if anyone rolled tape on the show."

Thanks, Paul!  OK, to Those Greats Who Were There: anything in those wonderful, knowledge-filled memory banks?  And, if anyone has an aircheck of this, please contact me so we can post it here for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks, Bud S. (staceys4@hotmail.com)

I DO remember that. I live in the middle of Nebraska, and that show was my FIRST introduction to blues that I later picked up on and still love to this day. I would say it was 80-81.

  2. Similar story here. I lived in west-central Wisconsin, and in the mid-'80s a buddy and I would drive around, pick up KAAY, drink cheap beer and enjoy 'Blues Alley.' Loved that show!

  3. I remember Blues Alley. Back before cell phones and the internet, even personal computers for that mater. I would listen all night on my AM/FM 8-Track portable radio, then get up and go to work at my mail room gig in Kansas City. I can also remember my older brother listening to Beaker Street.
