Beaker Street New Year's Eve Aircheck Question

Guillaume Lanfray said...

Glad I could help! Now can someone tell me the name & artist of that "grizzly bear" song at the very end of Part 4 of the Beaker Street airchecks?

(Guillaume is referring to the 12/31/1971 New Year's Eve Aircheck in reply to Greg Barman's "Thank you"...anyone know the song he's referring to?  Bud S.)

  1. That is the Incredible Broadside Brass Bed Band - The Great Grizzly Bear Hunt

  2. Here's a semi-educated stab, having not heard the actual aircheck. It could well have been The Incredible Broadside Brass Bed Band. The giveaway would be the recurring mispronunciation wherein "grizzly" comes out something like "griddly." Far as I know, the song is named "Grizzly Bear."

  3. Sure enough, I spoke too soon. The full name of that cut would be "The Great Grizzly Bear Hunt." If the group is indeed the IBBBB, there's more info here: www.petelevin.com/ibbbb/ibbbb.htm

Other gems from this group include "Little Dead Surfer Girl" and "Don't Cry Lady, I'll Buy Your *** ****** Violets." Do they just not make 'em like this anymore or what?
